Featherston

Welcome to

Featherston is the gateway to the Wairarapa, a welcoming sight as you sweep off the Remutaka Hill, which is a close commute to our capital Wellington.

If you are a cycling, railway, book, or military enthusiast, you'll want to visit Featherston for sure! This historic Wairarapa town has unique museums and great access to the regions cycle trails. Featherston is known as a "Booktown", which is a small rural town or village close to major cities, in which secondhand bookshops are concentrated. Their residents set up events around books - selling them, writing, reading, illustrating, printing, making, and publishing them, and there are many Booktowns worldwide, but Featherston is the only Booktown in New Zealand.

Featherston is near the shores of Lake Wairarapa and the gateway to the wild stretch of cliffs, rocks and water that is Palliser Bay. It's one of the region's highlights with a historic lighthouse, native fur seals and the Putangirua Pinnacles, which provided an eerie backdrop in Sir Peter Jackson's "The Return of the King" movie.

Featherston is the perfect town for those who work centrally yet wish to live in a more rural setting.

If you like tinkering in the shed, need a space for a workshop or to work from home, this tidy three bedroom home has a brilliant single garage with a workshop, storage and an upstairs area with two rooms which would be a fantastic work from home space or even has potential to be renovated in to a self contained studio. Let your imagination run. Located on a back section, the home itself has great spaces and a lot of potential as a retirement, family or first home. The kitchen layout is very functional and spacious and links through to the dining area, an inbuilt office space and large living room. There is a gas fire and a heat pump in the main living area and opens to a second living space with doors to the garden. There are three double bedrooms, the bathroom has a shower and vanity with the separate toilet alongside. The home is privately positioned and has a great amount of garden and lawn - enough but not too much, and there is also plenty of off street parking and a large carport at the front. I could keep going but I will stop there and suggest you come and see this property for yourself!
